Train heavy.
Train coached.

A members-only strength gym for people who want to lift well, not just lift often. Six coaches. Eighteen classes a week. One hundred and twenty members. That's the room.

The Floor

A gym should make you stronger, not busier.

Iron & Oak is not a wellness club. There's no juice bar, no group photos by the squat rack, no "vibe" playlist. What there is: nine platforms, three competition bars, calibrated plates, chalk in unmarked bowls, and a coach in the room every minute the lights are on.

We cap membership at one hundred and twenty. That number isn't marketing — it's the math. With six coaches and an eight-to-one ratio in every class, anything more and we'd be cutting corners on form checks. We'd rather have a waiting list.

Programming is written eight weeks ahead by our head coach and runs in twelve-week blocks. You'll know what you're doing on a Tuesday in March because we wrote it in January. That's how strength works.

"The barbell doesn't care how you feel. We do. That's the whole job — meet the lifter where they are and put a heavier bar in their hands six weeks later."

What We Run

Six programs. One coaching standard.

Every class is capped at eight. Every program is written in twelve-week blocks with built-in deload weeks and quarterly testing days. No freelancing on the floor.

Core i.

Strength & Barbell

Linear progression on the three big lifts. Built for people who want to add weight to the bar every week, not chase variety. Sixty minutes, every minute spent under load.

  • Back squat, bench, deadlift on rotation
  • Accessory work: rows, presses, posterior chain
  • Form video review every six weeks
  • Mon · Wed · Fri at 6am, 6pm, 7pm
ii.

Conditioning

Hard, short, structured. Mostly mono-modal pieces — assault bike, ski erg, rower — so we can actually measure progress instead of guessing. Forty-five minutes including warm-up.

  • Threshold and aerobic capacity blocks
  • Periodised — not random metcons
  • Heart-rate based zones, monitored
  • Tue · Thu at 6am, 12pm, 6pm
Specialist iii.

Olympic Lifting

Snatch and clean & jerk, taught from scratch and refined over years. We run this small — four members per session, one platform each, two coaches in the room.

  • Position work before any heavy lifting
  • Weekly video review, frame by frame
  • USAW-certified coaches only
  • Sat at 7am · Tue · Thu at 7pm
iv.

Mobility & Restoration

Not a stretching class. Joint-by-joint assessment, controlled articular rotations, and the kind of slow tissue work that keeps you lifting into your fifties. Bring socks.

  • Hip, shoulder, T-spine focus
  • Breathwork and parasympathetic recovery
  • Individual range-of-motion screens
  • Wed · Fri at 12pm · Sat at 9am
v.

Open Floor

Self-directed training with a coach on duty for questions, form checks, and corrections. Use the rack, follow your own program, get expert eyes when you need them.

  • Full access to all equipment
  • Coach circulating, not running a class
  • Bring a written program or use ours
  • Daily, 10am – 12pm and 2pm – 5pm
New vi.

Women's Strength

Same lifts, same loads, separate session. Built for women who want to train heavy without the constant pep-talks. Coached by Coach Liz, who's deadlifted 180kg in competition.

  • All-female class, female head coach
  • Powerlifting-focused programming
  • Six-spot cap, no exceptions
  • Mon · Wed · Fri at 7am · Sat at 8am
Who Coaches

Six coaches. One bench deep.

Every coach is certified — CSCS, USAW, or NSCA — and competes or has competed at a national level. Their certifications and competition records are posted on the wall by the front desk.

Coach Marco Salvador, Head Coach at Iron & Oak Head Coach

Marco Salvador

CSCS · NSCA · Founder

Powerlifter, 15 years coaching, twice national champion in the -93kg class. Writes the programming. Won't let you cheat a rep.

Coach Liz Mendoza, Strength Coach Women's Lead

Liz Mendoza

CSCS · IPF Coach

National-level powerlifter (180kg deadlift), former teacher. Runs the Women's Strength program. Patient with beginners, ruthless with form.

Coach Diego Reyes, Olympic Lifting Specialist

Diego Reyes

USAW Level 2 · Oly Lifting

Former SEA Games team weightlifter. Snatch and clean & jerk specialist. The reason our barbell technique class is the best in the city.

Coach Tala Aquino, Conditioning

Tala Aquino

NSCA-CPT · Endurance

Ex-collegiate rower, sub-3 marathoner. Runs all conditioning blocks. Treats heart rate zones like an engineering problem, not a guess.

Class Schedule

Eighteen classes. Six days a week.

The schedule below is fixed — we don't shuffle classes week to week. Sunday is a closed-door reset day for coaches. Programming changes every twelve weeks, never the timetable.

"Tried three gyms in BGC before this. Iron & Oak is the first one where a coach actually corrected my deadlift instead of just counting reps. Added 30kg to my pull in six months."

"I'm fifty-two. Was nervous walking in. Marco met me at the door, took me through a movement screen, and didn't try to sell me anything. Two years later I'm squatting heavier than I did in college."

Before You Walk In

Questions, answered honestly.

A trial is ₱500 and runs about 75 minutes. You'll do a 30-minute movement screen with a coach — squats, hinges, presses, ankle and shoulder mobility — then jump into a real class at your level. Afterwards we sit down for ten minutes and talk through whether Iron & Oak is the right fit. No sales pitch. If we don't think you're ready (rare) or it's not your vibe, we'll say so.
No. About a third of our current members had never touched a barbell before joining. Our coaches teach from zero — that's the actual job. The only thing we ask is that you show up ready to learn. Strength is something we build with you, not a prerequisite.
Flat-soled shoes (Converse or Vans work — running shoes won't), comfortable clothes you can squat in, and a water bottle. Skip the gym gloves and the lifting belt for the first month. We provide chalk, locks for the lockers, towels, and protein from the back bar after class.
Yes. Every class caps at eight (six for Olympic Lifting and Women's Strength). Members book through our app up to seven days ahead, with a 24-hour cancellation window. No-shows after two warnings get a one-week booking pause — we keep the cap real so the coaching stays real.
It doesn't, on purpose. The schedule has been the same since 2022 and we're not planning to change it. Programming (the work inside the class) rotates every twelve weeks. If a coach is sick, another coach covers — never a substitute trainer we hired off Instagram.
The cap is one hundred and twenty and we hit it about twice a year. When we're full, you'll go on a waitlist and get an email when a spot opens — usually within four to six weeks. Drop-in classes stay available even when full membership is closed.
